Coastsiders Walk for Life ·

Take a virtual look at the Saturday, January 20, 2007, Walk for Life in San Francisco as seen through the eyes of parishoners of Our Lady of the Pillar and Our Lady of Refuge Catholic churches here on the coastside.

A busload of participants left Half Moon Bay early Saturday morning to attend Mass at St. Mary’s Cathedral and then went on to take part in the rally and the walk from Justin Herman Plaza to the Marina Green along with thousands of others.

An interesting discussion or two or three ·

I don’t know if everyone is aware that Coastsider has a discussion forum that is a little more rough-and-tumble than the main area of Coastsider. Folks can start their own topics and post replies in real time without them having to be okayed first (moderated). This new area is called Town Hall and is worth a look. You can also catch the most popular headlines on Town Hall from Coastsider’s main page.

A good place to start might be a controversial topic that was recently closed to further posting after generating lots of discussion and many viewings.

I like to read what folks are saying. There are certainly differing views on multiple subjects. For me it’s especially interesting because many times I have no idea what these people are like in real life. When I do meet them or see them at a public meeting, sometimes they don’t resemble their online persona at all!

The calendars sell for $15 each and all proceeds benefit the students of La Honda Elementary School.

Scarecrow rides into Half Moon Bay! ·

Ten year old Heather Claitor of Loma Mar produced one of the prize winning scarecrows at the Scarecrow Contest in Half Moom Bay on Sunday, October 8, 2006.

I just happened to have my camera with me when I ran into Heather’s father, Jim Claitor, who was looking for her work of art among the winning scarecrows on display in the I.D.E.S hall. It sure looks like she used what was on hand around the Claitor place to produce a cowgirl that would be outstanding in any field.
